Review of the Disability Services Act 2011

Invitation to Provide Comment

A review of the Tasmanian Disability Services Act 2011 (the Act) is being undertaken by an independent consultant under the auspices of a Review Committee.

The Act began operating on 1 January 2012 and describes how specialist support services funded by the Tasmanian Government are provided to people with disability in Tasmania.

The Review Committee wants to understand how satisfied you are that the Act:

  • promotes the needs and best interests of people with disability and considers individual wishes in decision-making, and respects their dignity and autonomy
  • provides coordinated, quality, safe services through disability services providers or individual plans
  • protects the safety and wellbeing of people with disability, including restrictive interventions
  • supports the transition to the NDIS
  • operates effectively with other Tasmanian legislation
  • meets your expectations overall.

People with disability, their families and carers, and disability service providers are invited to attend forums in Launceston, Devonport and Hobart.

Alternatively, you can participate in the Review by providing a written submission or completing an online survey by 15 December 2017.

Please visit Disability Services Act 2011 Review for more information about the review, submission requirements and for access to the online survey.
